I picked up a "new" baler. Actually is has only been slightly used a JD327. Paint on the auger is still like new. I spent way too much on it and want to keep it in tip top shape. When I"m finished what length should I go to, to keep it "pretty". I will blow it out, but I guess my main question is, do I leave the partial bale in there or remove it?

What I like to do is trip the knotter to finish up the partial bale in the chamber. You can then loosen your tension adjusters & pull the bales out. Then I blow everything off with air. Bales left in the chamber will collect moisture & rust it out unless the hay & the weather conditions are very dry. Twine stays threaded up & starting back up is easy. That's just the way I do it.

I spend a little time putting the baler to bed for winter. That includes removing all partial bale material from the chute, blowing out all the chaff, washing with soap and water, and then tarping it well before putting it inside. A couple of hours when you have the time beats a baler that doesn't work when you need it.

what i did was feed a couple of bales of straw in to it and then left them in the chamber.i dont know of anyone around here who bothers to take the bales out at the end of the season. i would also paint the pickup and auger on mine and greased it after blowing it off with air. aound here that seemed to be the norm.

I always hot water pressure washed ours, greased it, then sprayed it down with used motor oil with the baler running. Never had a problem. I used air but had a problem with left over chaff becoming sort of a sand paper when the oil was sprayed on..... ....The hot water cured that.

I like to blow all the chaff and dust off. I always remove the bale at season's end to prevent any moisture contact in the bale chamber. I then like to wipe down the auger, platform and bale chamber with oil.
