I"ve got a 273 and looking at a 275. I read somewhere they shoudn"t be mounted to the bale chamber, but a neighbor has a Super 78 that has one mounted on one side of the bale chamber. Needless to say, I am confused.

Any advice is appreciated.

I've only got two of my baler manuals here. One for the 270 and one for the 281. Both manuals say that the Telescoping wagon hitch attaches directly to the bale chamber.

On the older models they are mounted to the bale chamber and anchored to the axel with a brace running and aanchoring to the diagonal that runs from the back of the bale chamber to the right wheel axel looking from the rear.
The newer ones don't even anchor to the axel but are mounted to the bale chamber in the holes located at the bottom on the right side of the chamber looking from the rear. They are also braced on the diagonal.
In the back of some manuals it is shown as an accessary with a picture of the hitch. I suggest you go to some bone yards and you'll find some old balers with hitches. Use that for reference or buy one off a baler of simuliar type. Good luck..... .....

don't believe everything you read. All I know is what people have told me and what I've figured out for myself, and the two don't always agree.
