Raking pine needles from road bed

First post to this forum. We've recently aquired a 45 Ford 2N for work on our small 10 acre property in the woods of Arkansas. The property is covered with Pine Trees. We have a driveway that runs about 400 feet from the main road to the house. It winds through the trees and is constantly getting covered in pine needles.

Is there an implement out there that can be used with the 2N to rake up the pine needles without disturbing the road bed?

The goal would be to rake them into piles and burn em.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Brad

Try one of those leaf vacs you pull behind a garden tractor should do the trick.

Hi BK,

Fight the same thing here too only it is with the darned gutters on the buildings.

I use a chainsaw; peel 'em back about a hundred yards. :>)

A landscape rake (aka York rake) might, though you will need to trade off getting all the needles vs disturbing some gravel....

A blower - will make a lot of dust.

A bristle brush - big rotating thing - will sweep everything of, including loose gravel. Would work well if you have tar or pavement tho.

The landscape bales of pine needles are hot sellers, but the baler to make them is $15,000 & you need a special small rake.....

I think that I would look into a blower to remove the pine needles from the road. Should work fine!

I once met two fellows selling baled pine straw to contractors and home owners. They lived in nearby Lousiana,in the piney woods area. They told me that the can sell as much as they can produce.I asked how they gathered the pine needles. They said they use old fashion dump type hay rakes and were asking for info on where to find some.Didn"t ask if they pulled with horses or tractors

What's it used for? Lanscaping mulch? Silt control?
