I put new belts and now they want to get all crisscrossed and try to rollover are they too loose or too tight? . The tighten bolt is as tight as it will go but the belts still got slack. the belts keep going to the left side even after I loosened the right how do you fix this? any help would be nice.

If the belts are moving around and there isn't any hay in the chamber don't worry. When you start baling make sure you get hay all the way across the chamber quickly to start the core and then once the bale is started the belts will track to the low side of the bale, put more hay on that side.

sorry forgot to put model it's a 605 C .I got it fixed I talked to a dealer and he said to put flour or some kind of powder on the belts because they were sticking to the steel rollers .That made the belts roll all the time and they should not turn when theres no hay only after the core's about to start rolling.the flour worked great and thanks for comments.

Tell us the model, as Hay Dr said, those 2 fellows do this for a living, you;ll get good advise.

I might suspect you did not get the belts all evenly sized, the loose ones are wandering?

Tell us the baler model you have and James in NC or the Hay DR will tell you how to adjust your baler. We both are at Vermeer in Pella,Iowa

I was just reading your post again does it have some way releasing the tension on the belts when you service them? Hesston had a pin you inserted in each side then closed the tailgate and that would take tension off the belts. I am not sure what my new vermeer has I have not had to work on the belts yet, although I think it has some thing simalar...Just a thouhgt, probably some thing you already thought of but i figured I would toss it out anyways....jim

Useing two Vemeers: 605F and 454silage. Can't begin to imagine new belts on the 605F. I'm seeing cords so one of theses years, I guess. The 454 is only a couple yrs old. Both start and roll hay marveliously. I start in to 2ft or 2.5ft windrow deepening which baler I'm useing, with a very quick and determined wig-wag until I can see the hay rolls and/or belts running evenly spaced to the cabinet's sides. Been at it over thirty years averaging about 1000 bales those years. Short (slow) quick wig-waging to start, starting squarly off on corner cutting rather sharply across the windrow. Good luck

This happens to me with my JD 510 when starting the bale if I don't have enough hay going to those belts. If one belt is slacker than the others due to lack of hay it will wander all over.

Does it have any left to right belt tracking adjustment? What model is it? My vermeer 605xl has two belts that are supposed to twisted all the time.(but I guess your old ones would of been that way too) I installed new belts one time and missed going over one roller, took about 4 guys looking at it for acouple hours to figure it out. Speaking af baling I better finish my dinner and quit goofing off here and get to it....Good Luck , Jim
