Richard, Don't know if this will help or not, but since no one else has replied. I had to do this same adjustment to both my old fords (curca 55-60) and it may not be the same. On the baler that has wood slides. The plunger itself had a shim & wear plate that set the distance between the knifes. I cut new wood slides and had to re-shim the wear plate. Then I set the rails to keep the plunger up against the knife (right) side of the chamber with no restance. On the roller plunger I didn't have to replace anything, or pull the plunger, so I am not sure what (wear plate or roller?) set the distance, but the rails still did the same thing. I set them to keep the plunger up against the knife (right) side chamber. The adjustment process was to loosen the bolts that held the rails in place just enough to move. To much and the heads will hit the plunger. Mine were on top and bottom, left side of the chamber. Loosen the lock nuts and turn in the adjusters (left side, top and bottom, 90 deg from holders) in until the plunger (turning by hand) had slight restance and back of 1/4 - 1/2 turn, lock down. Check restance (none with little to no side-side movement) and tighten down hold bolts. Mine had three adjusters top and three bottom. Set the plunger mid point at the first adjuster and set, move to the next and set, on to the third. The run the plunger a few times and re-check. Looking for a smooth ride. I had to have the chamber empty so I could run the plunger thru it paces. Hope this helps..... ..
