I have what I think is the "early" style of trip mech. on my baler. It uses an adjustable measuring wheel which rotates an offset bar which has a bent rod that rides on the knotters. As the hay turns the wheel, the bar is suppose to slide off the knotter and trip and knot. I was wondering if the trip mech. off an "newer" 14T or other model would more or less just bolt on. Friends family has a newer 14T and it has the newer style, it has a trip arm with grooves on it and a pulley type wheel off the measuring wheel turns it. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I'm not very good at explaining thinngs. Sorry 'bout being long winded.

I think you can change them over. I know we had the old style and changed to the newer one. Trouble is that my dad did the changing. He has passed away and I don't know exactly what you had to change. I think you had to drill and tap two holes to hold the new style on and maybe change something else but like I said I am not sure. Wish I could be of more help.

Yup, I know what you"re talking about but I don"t really know if the two types are interchangable. They should be because the trip dog is the same for both. The exploded views in the parts manual doesn"t really show enough detail to tell. Also there"s two types of early style measuring wheel linkages, the newer one starting with serial #20386 to 58333. HTH.
