JD 24 WS baler -plunger head adjustment - suggesti

Have been sheeering bolts at the flywheel. checked the ram and the pitman bearing seem loose. When the plunger head goes back it guides nicley, good clearance with the knives. The problem is when it comes forward it is cock eyed. The bottom side is not in alignment with the top side.

If I am not worng I think the side arms need adjusting,but would worn pitman bearings also cause alignement problems???

Also the metal brackets for the needle pullies have rusted. Need to weld those up. Anyone got a decent picture what they should look like???

NOT SURE ABOUT A 24WS BUT IF IT'S LIKE A 24T THERE ARE GUIDES ON THE SIDE YOU CAN ACCESS THROUGH HOLES WITH LITTLE PIVOTING COVERS TO ADJUST THE SIDE CLEARANCE. THE REAR ONE ON MINE WAS MISSING SO I MADE BRACKETS AND INSTALLED ROLLERS ON THE PLUNGERHEAD. AS FAR AS WEAR ON THE BUSHING, MINE IS BAD TOO BUT DOESN'T SEEM TO BOTHER ANYTHING. DON'T QUITE KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN BY NEEDLE PULLEYS.

I see the side adjusters. I was just wondering if anyone knows if this cures the plunger head from being cocked when going foward.

I'm sure the 24ws is ery similar to a wire tie 24T.
