JD 24 baler adjustment help---DFW TX Need expert

I need a bit of help adjusting my JD 24 ws baler. It seems to be busting quite a few sheer bolts on the fly wheel. I think the plunger head needs adjustment with shims. I am willing to pay (nominal fee) someone to help me adjust this baler.
I guess I could take it to a dealer, but then I would never learn how to adjust it myself.

I used to shear one bolt for one bale.....got that bad. Talked to www.texastwistonline.com, Steve Thompson in Trenton, N.E. of McKinney. He said my tie brake wasn't working. Looked at the thing and the shoes were shot. Went to the Deere house and had next day delivery on new shoes (pricey) which I promptly installed, using the original compression on the spring loaded screws and presto, haven't popped a shear bolt since.

The adjustments and timing and most other information is availabe in the manual, at your John Deere dealer. Manuals can be ordered. I bought one last year. Well worth the money. Bill

Richard,
Your operator"s manual should tell you how to do this; anyway, I had a 214T and it told what the tolerances should be on the plunger head. One thing you need to keep in mind is that the wear bars in the chamber do not wear evenly and you can adjust for correct clearance in one spot and it can be too tight and bind in another spot. Got to run the plunger from one end to the other so as not to get it too tight. Good Luck.
