Sickle Mower Blade Guards Needed

Need help locating blade guards that will fit my old circa 1940"s (I think) Oliver horse drawn sickle mower. I can email pictures or specs on the one remaining blade guard I still have. Any help at all would be appreciated.

Do you have an Agco dealer near you, preferably an Agco-White dealer? They likely could set you up fine tho OEM guards will cost you some money. Take the guard with you.

I would take the 1 guard to a tractor/ farm supply store & see what on their walls matches what you have. Very often the "universal" will fit, or some other model. They also will have a book from their supplier, and can order some guards that they do not normally stock. Be sure to get the knowledgable person to help you, not the high-school kid for this. However, you are a bit out of season for this, they are more likely to have mower parts/ willing to order in spring, not fall.

There are several on-line & catalog places such as V a l u b i l t That may be able to help, but SickleService should do it if anyone can.

i honastly don"t know. mine is a 60"s vintage pto trailtype. it still has the decals on it. i just thought that the #700"s would work because when i"ve needed parts for mine i"ve robbed a few off a old horse drawn type cockshutt. oliver bought out cockshutt and the mowers are very similar.

Casey, Hmmm. I"ve looked all over this thing for a Model# that might define the "machine". It does have however, model numbers on many of the other various components. The sickle "unit" itself is marked #Z68X.My last remaining guard is marked #765A. I took a look at Sickle Service"s #G-700 blade guard(on their website). Does this look like the JD700 you spoke of?

i have about six different manufacturers guards on mine so i"ll look tonight at all the different numbers and see if any of them match. should be able to post back around 10pm central time.

Casey, Glad to hear you have six different types, because if Sickle Service's G700 is a match,OUCH! It's $28 bucks a pop (and I need eleven or so).

that JD700 that i use for replacements is $4.00 each at my local farm store! where do you live?

Update: I just received my return phone call from Sickle Service. The salesparson indicated the G700 is probably the guard I need. He gave me some specs to check, and also let me know that the price on their website is a typo. They're actually only $2.85(YEAH!).

Are you sure your guards say 765A. I have an old oliver semi mounted and the guards have Z 65 C on them. Maybe all oliver guards are the same. My sickle mower is either a model 22b or an 82.

Tim, Yes I am sure, but you brought up a thought that I have not yet considered: this guard may be an aftermarket or retrofit. Hmmm, thanks for complicating things further(just kidding). I"ll have to look into this. Thanks for your post.
