have an old JD single 16 plow on steel and trying to figure out what model and year. I posted a while back and someone thought it was a model 51 or 52 but I don"t remember. Therre is a number 614 on beam back by the bottom. Also on the tongue piece, there is a number 16392. Is that a serial number or a part number for that piece. Thanks in advance, Larry

Thanks for the info. Is this one also before 1935? Any place to get a good picture of one redone? Thanks

Larry, It is pretty hard to figure the manufacture date of those old plows, IF it has the little ears on the ends of the adjusting levers where they overlap, so that one kind of wraps around the other, it is likely 1935 or earlier. after that they were just two pieces of flat stock with bolt holes for length adjustment. If the lift clutch is all enclosed in a big smooth casting, it is a later after 1940 or so. Not many other changes on that plow over the years. Bob

The one bottom version with the beam #614 is a number 51 plow, The 2 bottom version is a #52, it has a 612 and 613 beam, unless it was built before 1935 then it would have 610 and 611 beams. As long as I"m giving you way more info than you asked for, I"ll mention there was a #53 plow in the series that was, you guessed it, a 3 bottom plow.
