This is a cross post from the Ford Tractor Group--

I plan to buy a used loader at some point for my Ford 640. (I'm aware of how it can affect steering, but I'd rather use what muscles I have left from a seated position than standing with a shovel.) There are some tractor/implement auctions coming up and I need to get educated.

-Is there a list anywhere of loaders that will fit an x00 series tractor? (Can I assume that anything coming off an N series will fit a 640?)

-I know I want a hyraulic bucket, but which are the more desireable loaders & are there any to avoid?

-Besides looking for cracked hoses, pitted hydraulics and bad welding, how do you evaluate a loader if it's not on a tractor and you can't actually see it working?

Thanks in advance.

Ian
