Hi folks,

I've been lurking in the YT forums for quite a while, but this is my first post.

I've recently acquired a '62 Oliver 550. (Picture a <> big grin here!) Among other things, I intend to use it to plow the snow from my 250 ft. dirt driveway in near coastal southern Maine this winter.

Because of availability and "bang for the buck," I have settled on a 7 ft. Kodiak Manufacturing rear blade. And the question... 30 HP standard blade or 50 HP MD blade? I have seen the Kodiak Slider blade which I'm convinced is too light duty for my needs, and the 30 HP blade which appears to be quite substantial. I have not seen a 50 HP blade with my own eyes.

The Oliver 550 is Nebraska rated at 35 HP at the drawbar and 41 HP at the PTO. What HP does Kodiak mean? How much more substantial is the 50 HP blade? Anyone have experience with the 30 HP blade on a tractor of this size?

Thanks for your input.

Peter
