Get home yesterday afternoon. Hook the NH 489 haybine to the Ford 3000 and head for the field down the road. Get everything straightened out and take off. End of first round, did my usual looking over the shoulder to check things out and OOPS! The tongue of the swather was dragging the windrow with it.....what? Looked closer and the drawbar had a nice bow in it. Where"d that come from.

Stop, disconnect, and back to the house to get the Deere. This one ain"t gonna bend. Didn"t. Finished at sundown. Glad the neighbors on that side weren"t out to see old Blue let me down, nor neighbors on the the other side see Green coming to the rescue. Really gotta watch the image you know, the way small town people like to talk. Grin

TXBLU how in the hell did you bend that tounge, I pulled a 1209 JD and took it places it should have never been. And I only knocked off a cover,and belive me that amazing that all the damage I done to it

Well, it was one of those TSC after markets and was only bout 3/4 to 1" thick. Have one about 1 1/2 inches thick on my MF that I"m gonna take off and put on it.

This NH 489 haybine has an inclosed drive shaft (yuck) and there is a tremendous amount of weight on the draw bar.

Makes cents to me, the JD had a hyd hose in tounge that was a pain to get to. But if you ever get a chance try a JD. I could with a sharp sickle run in 9th gear with a 1070 case an hardly miss a stem. And it worked great for pasture mowing also 10 times better than a bush hog

Bought a new Ford/New Holland 4WD 5030. After 400 hours I was convinved the steel was junk. Traded it in on a new JD 6000 series. All problems solved.

Naw I didn"t. Was concentrating on getting finished before dark. My swather is as wide as the road to the house and there are a couple of blind curves. I know I outweigh the local morons who speed thru them by 2:1 or so, but I need my gear. Besides they might sue John for building the tractor..... with 4 headlights.
