907 Rotary Mower Question

I just used my "New" JD 907 rotary mower for the first time this weekend. I have been mowing roads all year with the sickle, wow was this nicer!

Only concern I have is whenever I turn the tractor more than about 15 degrees from the mower the front box (where the two shafts connect) rattles like crazy! One seriously loud racket.

The bearing seems to be ok, sheet metal is a little banged up. I quickly looked at removing the metal but it is attached permenantly to the bearing bracket.

Is that normal to make some noise or should it sound the same when turning?

We have a 709 and the pin the connects the bearings support tower to the tongue has a lot of slop in it and will rattle when turning. We have been unsucessful in removing the pin so for now we are leaving it alone.

Sorry about that-I meant to correct the 907 to 709 and accidentally posted 2 times.
