I raised my finishing mower too high when I finished cutting for the day snapped the driveline connecting the yokes for the tractor and mower. Can this be welded or will I need a new one? I haven"t done anything stupid for a while, but this sure makes up for it. Thanks.

If it broke because you raised it too high it probably needed to be shortened by taking equal amounts off the sleeve and the shaft.

if you do decide to weld it take it to a truck driveline shop. they will weld it so that its all balanced and true.cook bros near me has all the yolks and stuff and different types of pto tubes, even though they are a truck shop.

The cross bearing is $10 and the yokes are $15 each. Usually MFG use a #2 or #3 Italian style PTO with triangular profile tubes.

Parts are available, if you snapped a square tube you can buy just the tube & have it welded on a good yoke. If you snapped a yoke, you can get a good yoke to weld on your tube. You probably want a good welder to handle this. Any tiny little bend or bow in the shaft will cause you _much_ problems, and any itty bitty tiny misalignment of a broken yoke will cause much noise & binding, so you want to have good whole parts you weld together, not broken bits & pieces.

Not sure of the shape of your shaft or what part exactly broke from your description.

Find a good welding shop they can weld new yokes on shaft and it will be good as new as long as it"s not bent.

Get a new one, cause if that weld would break when you're using it, only God knows what would happen. Much easier to replace a drive line than internal pto parts in the tractor, or worse...
