JD 5 Mower PTO Question

I bought a JD #5 mower and am trying to mount it rigid to a MF50 tractor. I have what was a cobbled mount that the prior owner used on an old Ford 8N - it is pretty rough! What I need to know is how much distance there is between the PTO output shaft (at the end) and the round quick hitch points that were used on a JD model 'B'.

Thanks in advance,
Bill

I"ll say up front that I do not know the answer to that question. I am not sure from your post what it is you are trying to accomplish. I"ll take a flier and guess that you are trying to hook the number five to the drawbar of a non-JD tractor and want to fabricate a mounting bracket.
If so, I would recommend that you block the mower behind the tractor and measure what would work best. Once the bracket is fabricated, you can have a new driveline fabricated to length for a very modest cost. I may be wrong, but it sounds like you are worried about the driveshaft reaching. If I am wrong, maybe you should repost with a little more detail of what you want to do.

Dave,

Thanks for the reply! I have a drawbar hitch that someone hacked together. I want to re-do it and put the cylinder that the cycle bar mounts to at the proper distance from the PTO similar the original JD.

Thanks!
Bill
