I am looking to buy 2 Landpride finish mowers - a model 2560 (60") and model 2572 (72"). Are these mowers any good? Do they give a good quality cut? I have never used Landpride finish mowers and just want comments.

I don't have a Landpride Finish Mower, but I researched a lot on Finish Mowers before I bought one (you might have a look at the forums on TractorByNet.com). I was serious about getting a LandPride before I discovered FirstChoice. Don't let the cheesey name fool you, I bought the 84" which is an order of magnitude more heavy duty than the smaller versions, and it is indestructable. The quality is amazing: the metal, the welds, the powder coat paint. And, you'll pay a lot less for First Choice than for Landpride or any of the other big name brands. I run this mower on my '59 Ford 861, and I love it.

While I don't have any experience with the Landpride finish mowers, my neighbor has a rotary cutter (bushhog) and swears by it (not at it). My local dealer sells Landpride and Woods, and says there really isn't much to choose between the two- that's a pretty good endorsement right there. If you look at the specifications, construction, etc. I think you'll agree. Landpride might not be the the best, but its a very good quality machine.

If the mowers you are looking at have a square gear box, you will get to replace the bearings and seals VERY often. The newer mowers (in the last 5 or6 years), have a round-shaped gear box that is much heavier built, and I think holds more grease. The square boxes would run extremely hot, and would usually blow the input shaft seal. I think the newer gear boxes will replace the older ones, but they are not cheap. Other than that, they are a good mower. I would just be careful about the gear box - my 2 cents worth. Good luck!
