Plow Spreader. Good Deal????

Hi all, Today I bought a Ford 2 bottom plow and a New holland manure spreader and was wondering how I did( price wise). The Plow is model#Io-337 Serial#4I27, I had him hook it up and plow with it and it plowed good, It could use some new shims but that didn't hurt the performance of the plows. He sold it for $150??? Good price? What is the size of these plows, the guy wasn't sure what size they are. He say's he thought they might be 16" Would this be right? The manure spearder seemed to be in good shape every thing seemed to work fine, All the chain's and gears seemed to be in good condition. The paddle's are good, The other things could use work. It's not all rusted out. The chains and the pushers in the bed are good. Tires/ wheels are good. He sold it for $400??? The serial# 31936 and the model#331 spreader. So for $550 I got A good set of plows and a good manure spreader. So, did I do good? Thanks, TractorMike

Good deal if it"s what you needed & you are happy, bad deal if it doesn"t do what you want or you are unhappy.

This old stuff sells from far too cheap to far too high on average, so there really is no good answer.

I bought a chisel plow for $900, 10 years later I bought the same model at a farm sale for $150 and it was in better condition. Both were very good buys for me tho. Needed one the first time, could use the first one for parts on the second one. No regrets on the prices either time.

The 10-337 is a 14 inch shear bolt two bottom plow. That price is about right on the money..

Here in New Jersey that spreader would have sold for double what you paid for it. Price on the plow is about right for around here, a hundred more if it had new wear parts.

Only you know if you got a good deal or not. Personaly I would not have paid two hundred dollars for the whole shooting match. Because I do not have a use for either one of them so what it would be worth to me is different than what it would be worth to you. I have seen plow sell as cheap as twenty five dollars and as much as three hundred just depended on who wanted it the worst and how deep their pockets where. I have seen very nice spreaders sell at auction as cheep as one hundred fifty dollars. If you think you got a good deal then you got a good deal, and don"t let anyone else talk you out of it.
