I bought a Sears&Roebuck steel wheel running gear yesterday. It Needs a new tongue and reach, but all the axles and wheels are in great shape. On the front axel is the the factory tag in perfect shape, it reads, Sears Roebuck Co. When ordering repair parts always mention model number 220282. I wonder what kind of a response a fella would get if you called Sears today and asked for this model number?? My question is, what is the right color scheme for this running gear, and does any one know if they have a owners manual or paper work for this gear?? Thank you for your time and help on this!!!

JD-A,I went out and looked at the wheels and I could not see any eagle or globe anywhere on the wheel anywhere. Is this emblem supposed to be on them? I e-mailed Sears about the wagon, and received an e-mail back saying check with an implement dealer, did Sears sell these exclusivly,or did implement dealers sell them also? If you know of anyone or any place I can find out more on these wagons please let me know. Thank you for your time and help on this...

The Egal and Globe are Case and in no way conected to sears. Is it a fifth wheel or aumotive steer type and do the wheels bolt on or are they non demountable rims? I have a couple of Sears wagons, both styles

Leroy, I told you wrong,it is a gooseneck type steering. I don't really know why I typed automotive type steering, it's been a long day..
Thanks again..... ..Binder-Man

I assume by gooseneck you mean what is called a 5th wheel or bolster guide with a sollid axle that pivitos on a pin on front of coupling pole. I have never seen a wagon made like that, the ones I have that are that type of guide were wheels made all in one piece with hub, the automotive guide I have had 16" wheels on it but the steel wheels sold for use with their horse drawn mowers (Built about 1946 with the David Bradley name on) would bolt on to the Sears I have that Dad mought new in 1946. In all catalogs from 1954 up are called David Bradley and all automotive guide. Frames all red, mower wheels were green like all newer David Bradley, on 46 Sears a deep yellow, old bolster guide no paint on wheels

Leroy, It is automotive type steering, and yes the wheels are removable. Do you happen to know what years these wagons were made and what the color scheme was on them. I e-mailed Sears twice and all they tell me is check with an implement dealers. Did implement dealers sell Sears and Roebuck wagons, or did just Sears sell them? Thank you Leroy for your time and help, please let me know on this...Thanks again..... .Model#220282

Seems to me that the frame was a deep red something like the original 8N and the wheels were sort of lime green.

You might be surprised if you got hold of the right person at sears. Once tracked down a manual for a guys inherited 1947 David Bradley walk behind tractor by calling the factory in Carolina. Agri-fab has made a lot of their stuff for years. That's where I would start if I were looking.
