Fox 3000 Manuals wanted

Does anyone have a set of manuals for a Fox 3000 chopper? We've had it for a few years, but now we want to use the knife sharpener. We just got a used motor for it, but we appear to be missing what is refered to as a tie rod that connects to the sharpener and cylinder shaft. Can anyone help us out? Don't know what we're missing but we're missing something..

Hi Don,

Boy! You've got one heck of a chopper there!

I'll dig around and see if I can come up with my old manuals somewhere around here.

I know that I�m not telling you anything that you don't already know, but I never did use that sharpener.

Every couple of days, I would adjust that cutting bar up tight with the proper "shearing" drag on each of those tungsten blades. Further, if any of the blades did not �slice� & �drag� as it should, I would then adjust it forward individually.

Dunno, but with having the tungsten insert in the bar riding against the tungsten on the blade, those blades just seemed to sharpen themselves by my doing this. Could sure tell a difference in the way it pulled too.

Yeah, It's definatley a step up from our other Fox, it was an older 540 pto model. I forget the #, but still have it parked out back and all the manuals for it. This one we got for FREE because it was owned by partners both retired 10 years or so, one died and the widow had no use for it and we baled her marsh hay every year for her to sell, and the other one didn't have a use for it either. The last thing they used it for was chipping wood, and they moved the shear bar away from the knives so it wouldn't cut it, but more shatter it like regular mulch that you would buy. Thats what our other Fox is for now. We have the hay head apart right now, and we are replacing all the pick up teeth, and I had a weld shop behind the machine shop I work at bend me up some new steel for the skid shoes. I cut the old steel off with the torch, welded on the new steel and painted them black. It didn't have the sharpener motor either when we got it, but this summer I was bringing in scrap iron when I saw a 1000 sitting there. I got the motor off it and another item for $16. I got 3 new stones for free from a local pharmacist, who's father worked at the Fox MFG. company for many many years. I live about 15 Minutes away from Fox's old building.
Today I just got done re-plumbing the hydraulic lines for the lift cylinder because one hose leaked and they were way too long anyways. I used some 1/2 pipe along the toungue and hose on either end, and welded 2 bolts on w/brackets to hold the pipe. Also welded 2 rings on the upright, one for the hoses, and one for the 2 ropes; one rope to widen/ narrow the unit, and one for the quick release hitch. Still gotta wire up the elec. motor they rigged up on the spout. Just glad I didn't tackle that job last year with our 1755 Oliver, because that one puked on us and now we have an 1855.
