I am going to clean up and repaint the best of my JD#5 mowers. It's a nice complete one and should be preserved. It still has intact, straight, unrusted pto shields on it. It is the only mower of it's type that I have seen that still has them.
Some of the writing on the shields is worn away and I was wondering if anyone had a mower with all the writing visible. I want to stencil this info back on when I am done. It reads as follows:

Line 1:"SAFETY FIRST"
Line 2:"SHIELDS AND (unreadable)"
Line 3:"PROTECT (unreadable)"
There is a white cross enclosed by a circle to the left of the writing.

I think only a word or two is missing in each line. Does anyone have a mower with the missing print who can help me?

Dave,

I bought a NOS shield last year. I've been using it but I will check to see if the words are all readable.
