Questions on Windrow Pickup for IH 82 Combine

Anyone have any pictures or info on a windrow pickup for an IH 82 combine? Just wondering where it attaches, and how much of the regular cutting head has to be removed for it to be mounted.

Kerwin there is a quite a bit to changing them over to a windrow pickup. What I did was buy a whole pickup unit. Then all you do is pull 2(two) pins and unhook the hyd. cyl. and drive belt and back the machine away from one unit and drive up to the other one. I don't know where you are but I got mine from Larson Imp. in Cambridge, MN. They are not to far from the WI. border.HTH

I don't know if you're looking for a pet project but my grandpa bought an 82 from a guy who had a junker with the pickup attachment sitting alongside his shed. The one he bought is almost showroom new. He said the last time he went by there, they had used a dozer to push the junker into the pasture. With that in mind, it might be totally ruined but it'd be in Woodman, WI. Woodman is so small, it wouldn't be on anything but a Grant county map.

If you'd like, I might be willing to try to find the guy. Unfortunately, my grandpa died last week so I can't ask him for directions.

Thanks for the reply. I would be interested in getting contact info on the guy with the 82 windrow pickup. I've been through Woodman a couple of times so I know the area a little--probably about 45 minutes from me.

How long ago did your Grandpa see the combine remains in the pasture?

Kerwin,

Don't know about your 82 per se, but on every combine that I've ever changed over, all you have to do is take off the reel assy and unhook that pitman to stop the sickel from moving.

The pickup should then mount in right over the top of that cutting bar & usually drives in some fashion utilizing that removed reel's power source.
