I am looking at buying a JD moisture tester and was wondering if any one else has one and has good results with it? I am looking at the low moisture 8-44% range fot mostly square bales and some rolled hay. Can you check the windrow with it too or just the bale after it is baled? Are these testers accurate? Well thanks alot for the advice and I will quit asking so many questions. Thank You

Hi, I have a JD and Farmex tester. Both are made by Farmex, Farmex verified this. They give a good reading in a bale about 12 hours after baling. The reading on a freashly baled bale is useless. Bill

Nail. I have a JD unit that I use. I would sell it to you if want it as I am going to a baler mounted unit and don't think I will need this unit that much anymore. Yes they are much more accurate sticking in the bale than in the windrow because of the density. Rick

I'e no experience with the JD testers. Someone, please forgive my forgetfulnees, on here once told me they wre made by Dickey John, a reputable company with good products. I've had Farm Tech and Delmorst for hand helds. The Delmorst is much more accurate comapred to oven testing than the Farm Tech but the F.T. also checks temperature. None of them are as accurate in the windrow as in the bale or bale chamber (due to bulk density of the hay).
