Hi- Ibought a 14-T baler on ebay a year ago just to bale straw with, paid 750.00 for it, looked average, got it home and it would not tie for nothing. Paid for a 150.00 service call, bought new knotter parts for 200.00, and broke a knive for 100.00. Then bought the manual for 25.00 read it front to back, timed the baler, readjusted the tucker fingers, and didnt miss a bale. Put it in shed, then got it out to bale straw, made 2 bales and quit tieing again, adjusted knives and tucker fingers, then broke knive home shearpin, put baler back in shed, went and rented neighbors 273 new holland, paid him $0.25 bale/ never missed a tie/ was as happy as a lark.
Got 1400.00 in my 14t tired of aggravating myself- will sell for $750.00 which is what I paid for it. Maybe someone out there knows more than I do about these things! My grandpa had one of these balers years ago it they were awesome balers, I just lost patience with mine.

I am drawing on my first baler experience with a 14T which I purchased and pulled out of a snow bank! Had the same experience about tieing, etc. After teaching myself about knotters, if the memory serves me, there is an arm which has a roller which follows the cam which makes the tucker fingers grab the twine. This arm assembly at the roller end was bent by almost an inch due to wear or whatever. I replaced that arm and never had a knot tieing problem for the remaining years I owned the ole 14T. (PS: I am a NH owner now) Good Luck.

Probably just a rusted up needle brake caused the whole problem.Sand it off and loosen it up a bit and I'll bet it will tie again.Bust some bales and try it.

Wish I was closer, I would take it off your hands for that price! My dad bought a 14T when I was in a teenager. I did a lot of work on it; many of the wear parts and plungerhead shims. I know what you mean about patience, it got the better of me a time or two as well. I replaced the chain and sprockets just forward of the flywheel one day, reassembled everything and hitched up the tractor. The hay was ready so we headed for the field. The baler would shear the flywheel drive pin as soon as it was engaged. Pulling through by hand showed it to be out of time. Back to the shop, timed it by the book exactly, pulled through again, same result. Dad says "What did you do to it? Finally, by watching carefully, we discovered that the dealer gave me a 13 tooth sprocket instead of 12!
