How to damage a bush hog squealer

I was told not to use a No. 8 hardened bolt as a shear pin on my old 5 foot bush hog squealer. The good news is that when it failed it was the drive shaft that broke not the gears or any mechanical parts of the mower. It is one tough mower.
The problem is that the bolt/shear pin is bent and I cannot drive it out without removing the coupler. Can the coupler be ground off? Can the gears be disassembled. I bought a new mower with a slip clutch but I would like to repair this one for back up. thanks

I don't see why not. as long as you don't get the shaft to hot and ruin seal
