I found a 7" haybine at the local International dealer. It looks like a 7" version of the 990. What would it be worth? What would the model number be? What Hp does it need and what is the lowest you"ve ran it with? Like can I use it with a IH 484 or Ford 3000? Do they have any bad problems? Thanks in advance.

Just Bought a 990 9foot haybine used my 350 and had no problems I can tell you that in my part of alberta that at auction you would probably get about 1500 to 2000 dollars for it not as nice looking as NH but sure gets the job done mine didn't even slow down once on me this year and I cut About 30 miles of ditch hay with it

Used to have an IH 990-9' haybine for many years. They also made a 990-7' model. Easy to work on. Cut pretty good. Not quite as nice as New Holland haybines, but pretty good for the money. I would think about $1,000 would be top dollar for one in nice shape. They are getting to be a pretty old machine. A 484 IH or Ford 3000 should pull a 7' machine without too much problem.

I use a 3000 on a 9' NH Haybine (486 or thereabouts). Run in 4th of 8 gears in 5' sudangrass @ 1400-1600 rpm.

Doesn't seem to matter how tall the stuff is; sickle doesn't know; only the rollers breaking stems. If the going gets rough, drop a gear.
