NH knotter problem

Our NH 326 just developed a strange knotter problem. Both knotters quit tying, everything else seems normal. Timing is right on, needles bring the twine up to the twine disks, which grab right on, billhooks seem to drop the twine, which I could understand if only only one knotter was acting up. Why both?

Check for a broken top left hay dog spring. This allows the dog to pop out of the chamber and sit on top of it. At the next tie cycle, the twine finger cam comes around, whacks the dog and either shears the key indexing the cam to the knotter shaft or splits the cam at the shaft bore. No #2 twine to billhooks, no knot.

Check your knotter brake or look for a half sheared pin or key on the main knotter shaft. Is the knotter trying to form a knot or are the knots pulling through due to excess tension? Any way it sounds like your problem could be on the drive side somewhere.
