just "acquired" a NH 67 baler kind of a trade of deal the serial number is 7247 so I figured it is a early model it has been stored in a old barn for 25-30 years and appears to be in good shape besides the paint being faded just wondered how old it is. Thanks Brian.

Brian: One problem with these old memories of events is, they are usually based on some other event in our life. I know we didn't have the NH S-69 baler with thrower and the NH 460 haybine when I finished high school in 1960. I know we did have both when my good better half and I got married in 1965.

My recollection is the S-69 came late in 1960 and haybine the following year, however I'm told the haybine wasn't introduced until 63 or 64, some will argue later than that. I know when we got the 460 they were out in limited supply. Dealer had 3 sales and he only got the one machine. Dad jumped first and the other two guys had to wait until the next spring.

WE HAVE A 67 WE GOT FROM A NEIGHBOR. HE SAID HIS DAD BOUGHT IT NEW IN 1958. THE DEALER HERE TOLD ME THEY WERE MADE IN 58 AN 59. SO FAR THIS YEAR WE HAVE PUT ABOUT 800 BALES THRU IT WITH ABOUT THAT MANY MORE TO GO. ON THURSDAY WE BALED 525 AND IT DID NOT MISS ONE. WE HAVE DONE SOME WORK TO IT BUT MOSTLY REPLACING WORN CHAINS AND A COUPLE OF SPROCKETS. WE PLAN ON KEEPING OURS AROUND FOR QUIT SOME TIME. TO REPLACE IT WOULD COST A LOT AND WE COULD STILL HAVE TO FIX A LOT.

It could of even been made in the mid 1950's. You can get manuals for them right from NH but you have to order the "super 67" manual. The only difference that I can see is the super 67 has a swing tongue and bearings on the plunger. I ordered one and used it to adjust the setting on my "67". I'm getting better and more consistant bales out of it now especially after replacing the feeder tines on it. Three of the four were worn down by about 4 inches.

Brian: It will date back to 1960, give or take a couple of years.
