Hi, I have a J.D. 520 . I have a chance to buy a J.D. 1209 haybine at a good price, I have used a no 5 mower and crimper for years. My question,, will that tractor be able to handle the machine.

Pulled one with an M had no problem. keep sickle sharp and you can fly thru thick hay. I think you won't be sorry you bought this haybine

The 520 should run it, but you may have problems with the hydraulic lift. I don't remember what type of system the 520 had, but the 1209 has a big single-acting cylinder that requires a high-pressure supply.

Older versions have 2 cylinders, newer ones went to 1 cylinder.
