We posted a few questions some time ago re: our NH 66 baler with the Wisconsin engine. We played with that engine forever, and finally dumped it and put a PTO clutch and shaft on it. The baler seems to want to bale hay, but the mechanism that pushes the hay from the auger to the wadboard (pushing the hay towards the rear of the baler) is causing us fits. (we really don't know what this mechanism is called - auxiliary wadboard?) We are told that this is a real early 66, with the arm that spins with the plunger shaft driving this mechanism (instead of it being directly driven off the plunger, which I guess some of the later 66s had). Anyway, the arm broke, possibly due to this mechanism being sticky, and not moving too freely in its track. Does anyone have this arm? It's about 12" long, and has 2 holes in it, approximately 9" between the centers. Does anyone have any idea how old the baler might be? We'd like to get it going again. We picked up a NH 270 with a hay thrower, since the 66 was causing so many problems. We baled 75 bales yesterday with it, not missing a knot. We just have to figure out how to get rid of the banana bale problem! One last question - I took the hay thrower off the baler, just to get things going with it. Is it worth messing around with? Do the hay throwers work well with loading the bales on a wagon? Is anyone interested in the thrower? (we may not use it) Thanks in advance...
