I have a 14T John Deere baler that I can't figure out how to adjust the bale legnth. I do have a operators manual that I purchased, but the bale legnth arm on my baler doesn't look anything like the picture in the manual. Maybe mine has been changed to a different style at some time, or the manual is for a different year of 14T Anyone have any help? I can email a pic of my settup if needed.

Thanks Mark

If you will send me (e-mail)a picture of your trip arm, I might be able to advise you on how to change the length. Not guaranted, but a good possibility. Ed

Thanks for the help. My baler has the expandable teeth on the bale wheel. I see they are set all the way out, so that will make a shorter bale. My manual must be for a later baler.

Thanks again!

Mark

The star wheels set all the way out(bigger) makes a longer bale..Smaller wheel turns it's cycle faster and makes a shorter bale.

O.K. My teeth are set all the way out now I believe. If that is the case I can't make my bales any longer correct? They are just under 36 inches right now.

I tinkered with mine when I got it and it won't make a huge bale like some other balers will. Mine makes about a 36 inch bale max. I hope to have time to get the 14 out today and make a few bales.I'll look the bale gauge over later and see if they're any other adjustments,I thought there was a adjustable stop thing that is on the trip arm,but can't remember from one year to the next.

Previous posts are rite. There are two styles of measuring wheels as shown in the parts manual. Also, the earlier one uses two different types of trip levers. JD changed to the "newest" style after Serial # 58334. The earlier one uses four segments on the wheel, the newer one is solid. If your baler hasn't got a type of star wheel that is turned by the bale passing thru the chamber, it must have been modified. HTH.

I believe there are two types of bale length adjustment - depending on how old your 14T is - one has an adjustable stop on the arm that scrolls up as the bale pushes out, turning the "star" wheel that engages the top of the bale. The other, and older, is that the "star" sheel has replaceable points of different length. This difference in diameter is what changes the bale length.

That is how I understand it - someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Good luck,

Bill
