NH 411 disc conditioner ?

My neighbor got an old beater 411 I just saw last week - he traded off a 3pt disc mower, said the 411 was faster mowing, even with bad rollers it helped shorten drying time.

I said if I ever see one for sale, I'll have to look into it. Never saw one before.

Well son of a gun, there is one at an auction tomorrow. I think it is way too beat up to bid on. The cracked rollers don't bother me, but one drum (is this a drum mower???) on the far side has a whole blade mount ripped off, and the remaining one is welded on. I can only imagine what shape the guts of the machine are....

But, interesting. I wonder what a new drum would cost?

A 411 is a mowing fool. Had a 1000 rpm one for 10 or 12 years. Would it drop hay! Replaced one of those "hats" or turtles. About $100 ; 4 bolts-metric cause a 411 is really a Kuhn. Pu t on an old shirt, lay on your back & check out the bottom of the cutter bed - carefully. Rev it up & listen, listen.

Thanks Steve & Tim. I watched it go for $1000. Probably coulda fixed it up for that, but more time than I wanted to invest....

If it's that bad, probably needs a whole new cutterbed. Friend of mine picked one up that had new rollers in it but had cutter problems for $2000. New cutterbed was another $1800. But now he has a pretty decent machine other than paint. Most good used disc/conditioner units will bring $5000+ at auction in this area.
