I am looking to make a 3 pt hitch/toolbar planter with 3-4 units. What types of planter units are ground driven and could be bolted on? I know about JD 71 Flex, was just wondering what other models to look for. Thanks!!!

Just look at auctions you can buy good 4row wide planters for nothing. And use units on your new home made planter if brand does not matter

Beware of this approach. Many drawn planters have a common-drive for all rows through a gearbox off of the transport wheels. You want one where each unit is self-driven with its own adjustments.

Your right I forgot about that thinking of something else. But around were I live you can still buy those old ground drives for 50-100 bucks at a sale and then make it into what you want. I saw one a fellow had made for his produce patch coulc plant 4 different things at once he loved it

The JD 446/447 is hard to find. We just rebuilt a JD246 and a JD247, two row machines. Of course the fertilizer hoppers were rusted out but the gears worked. They were pretty cruddy. Engine cleaner and a power washer did wonders. Had to cut off alot of baling material repairs. Have less than $300.00US in both including parts, a long way from the over a grand for a new two row planter previously posted.

Someone, was it Yetter, bought the rights to the 71 model & is selling them again.... if you want new, but be sitting down to write the check.

I have a bean planter with 15 IHC #295 units on it - can get parts from Case. I beleive they also had # 195 units????

Allis Chalmers had some units, can't think of the model # - were populare in the '70s..
