Baskets went for toooo much money. $1800 each.
Oh well the day was not a total loss. I came home with this instead!!!

Looks good! Sorry about the bale baskets. Hope I have better luck next Sat, got a piece of property I really need to buy, and everybody knows it. Probably have to give 3 prices for it.

Didnt catch those I saw the 450D. Had the wife with me and was in Bale basket selling mode.
Was not looking for a tractor at all. Just happened to be by it when selling and thought it was going cheap. So jumped in, Wife saids it was ok too. Go figure.....

Nice looking tractor! Can you give us some vitals on this machine, ie: year, hp, etc?

Also, I haven't been to your web site in a while, do you have some current pictures of your 400 and round baler in action and some pics from this year's hay effort? I really enjoy those pics and commentary!

Cant get you any photos of the 400 and the round baler yet. Baler has been a pig. I need to pull all the belts and size them correctly to get it to work. Need to do that this week as I have 20 acres of Alfalfa to roll.

Wow! Those are some great pics. It had been a while longer than I thought since I visited your web page - lots more added.

I wouldn't mind having a Super H with a wide front end. How'd you find that one for your 400? Are these something that are easy to come by?

I was surprised that you could find replacement gears for a tractor that old. Were they new gears?

WF's are not hard to find. Finding one at a good price is the trick.
I got my WF from Dave Grindle from Wiscosin. He advertises on this web site. I went to his place for a haybine and came back with a WF and a plow instead.

For the gears I put a add in the classifieds on this site and got many offers. Lots of different prices for used gears. From $100 per gear to all 5 gears for $100. Guess what offer I took? Lots and lots of Farmall rear ends out there. Those hardley ever get parted out with the rest. Gears should not be a problem.

Is there a market for small squares of alfalfa?
Horse folks dont want the Alfalfa around here. They just want Grass with no rain on it. I figured I would just roll the alfalfa and sell it for some cows.

Depends on your location. Some areas they only want alfalfa for their horses - go figure. Also around smaller dairies, they prefer small squares of very high quality alfalfa. Not that there are many small airies left in Minnesota.....

My bale basket was $1600 a couple of years ago. They weren't very popular 15 years ago, keep hearing they used to sell for 600-800. But the past 5 years, see more of them, more demand for them. Guess all the kids grew up & moved away, no one to stack bales on the rack....

Your gonna need a tanker truck to feed it fuel.
Had one and did'nt think 6 cyl's could suck up so much gas!!!!

Our old 560G wasn't bad on fuel at all when it decided to run right..... .....I think a 460 would do alot better than a 400 gal per hour wise. I know I don't enjoy feeding a thirsty 400 ;-(
