Larry,
Are you familiar with Corpus Christi, Bishop, and Taft? I grew up down there, it's been a long time (1988 was last time down there) but do know of a few farmers that might have what you are looking for. One of them has/had a salvage business that he was operating to supplement his income. It is/was located where the old Petronilla Gin had been. You may try to get in touch with him and see if he can hook you up. Also have relatives that have an old farm near Blessing. If Dan doesn't have one, let me know and I'll try to get in touch with one of them to see if they have an old cotton trailer or hay wagon they want to get rid of. We have an old farm Northeast of Waco. There is an old John Deere running gear and an old J.I. Case running gear on the farm, but am not really interested in getting rid of them. Hope to put them to use in the not to soon future. Have about 15 months to go before I hit my 20 year mark working for Uncle Sam. Am seriously thinking of calling it quits and going back to the farm. My retirement won't be much, but if I can get a part time job some place I might be able to keep from starving to death and that'll be good enough for me. Let me know if you find anything and if I can be of any help. Those type of trailers aren't really needed or used much, but are worth there salt when needed.

later days mate,
Jim

To Paul..Thanks for the reply. I'm looking for the steerable front axle type WAGON, (yes, one wheel at each corner)...sorry I did not specify that in the original message. PS..as I stated I'm simply trying to find one on the internet, preferrably in the southeast Texas area (or close enough that the transport charge wouldn't bankrupt me) and thought someone out there may know a site to find such at, (there is none such available of date on the tractorshed site). If they're a dime a dozen where you're located (you failed to provide that information), would you mind sharing that location with me. For lack of prior use in this immediate area (Brazoria County Texas south of Houston near the Gulf of Mexico), you just don't find them lying around that often. This area was farm land (mainly rice and some truck patches of vegetables) some 50 years back, but the old equipment used in that endeavour has long since disappeared. Thanks. LS

Larry, do they grow cotton in your part of Texas?? In the Mid-South, most cotton farmers have gone to modules or LARGE cotton trailers; the older/smaller trailers (20-24 ft) are rusting away at gins and in farmers back lots..... .

Southern Minnesota.

They just aren't worth enough to be listed on the internet very much, at least on the machinery sites I visit. Most of the ones I visit are in the midwest, so not much help to you.

New, they run about $650 plus flat and tires. Kory is my vendor of choice for new ones. Lots of used ones here in KY for about 1/2 that but the freight would make it just as much. Cheap enough new and hard enough to transport very far that you wont find many online. Might look around and find an old one in your area wth a gravity box on it.

Do you mean like a hay rack, or a barge box (grain box) wagon running gear, or do you mean a twin-axle trailer?

A trailer does not steer. A wagon running gear has a wheel at each corner, the front axle steers.

The wagon running gears (with nothing on, or the rack/box rotted to nothing) are about $50 - 200 at any farm auction, if you want a well used 5 ton or so gear. A bit more money if you want more weight load, better tires, better/ tighter steering. They are so much a dime-a-dozen 'here' that I wouldn't even know where to look for a retail location with any old used in stock - just not worth the space they take.

same around here. Everyone has a couple and they aren't worth scrapping. I just got one off my neighbours scrap pile for a small welding job.
