HELP STEVE FROM NEW HOLLAND

I HAVE A NH 67 BALER THAT I REPLACED THE NOTTER DRIVE SPROCKET ON. WHEN I TRY TO TIME IT AND THE CRANK ARM IS STRAIGHT UP AND CENTERED BETWEEN THE MARKS THE KNOTTER MARKS ARE OFF BY ABOUT A 1/4 INCH. THE PIN ON CHAIN FOR THE FEEDER FORKS IS INSIDE THE MARKS BUT OFF TO THE LEFT SIDE. WHEN I ROLL IT OVER BY HAND EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE OKAY. THERE SEEMS TO BE CLEARANCE BETWEEN EVERTYHING. IS IT OKAY TO TRY RUNNING IT LIKE THAT?

It sounds as if you have done everything correctly, except one small detail. The knotters/needles MUST(and I stress must) be in true home position. Grab a hold on the rod that connects the knotters down to the needles(this rod is on the right side of bale chamber) and pull it back towards you untill it comes against a stop. At this point your marks should align or come real close. Yes, you would then be ready to go. Steve

If you have pulled the knotter shaft back against the stop pawl before checking the knotter timing, being off .25" should be OK as long as the knotters are timed to the early side, not late. Feeder fork is within spec.
