missing part on A17 or a21 IH mower

The mower that I have is a rear mount A17 or A21 IH model sickle mower(fits on back of Super A) that has a hand lift on it. It is the type that has the break away in case you hit something solid with the bar. The part that appears to be missing fits onto the cutter bar on what I call the foot. The foot is the skid plate right under where the pitman arm attaches to the sickle bar. On the trailing side of the skid plate is a plate that the sickle bar rides on. On the leading edge it looks like there are locations for a similar plate for the sickle bar to ride on. I took a couple of old sickle sections and cut then to fit on the leading edge under the sickle bar. This took all of the slop out of the sickle when it is traveling back and forth in this region. I belive that this is why I kept breaking pitman arms.
So now the question is are these plates still availble and how do they attach? Or should I just tack weld something in there such as these sickle sections that I have cut to fit?
