There are 2 of them at a sale I am going too this weekend. I went and looked at them, but what do I know?
Any way what else do you need to use these behind a NH baler? I would assume that there needs to be something on the hitch and maybe some thing from the bale chute to the basket??
Where do I get these?

We have been running bale baskets for 14 years now. They replaced 7 kicker wagons and we have not missed them (except for hay rides!!!). We use 3 Pro-Quality, 1 Forge King and 1 EZ-Trail. On the PQ's, I rebuilt the front hitch complete (due to wear over time). I switched from a skid plate to a roller and added a 12" handle and made a pivot point connecton for much easier release of the locking pin to release tension. The Forge King is an almost look alike to the PQ's, but do not have any of the modifications PQ made. The EZ Trail too is a good unit. The weakness is in the quick hitch set up for locking the end gate, but easy to correct. On all BB's the major weakness is the bale guide framing (catching and guiding the bales from the bale chamber). There are dangerous pinch points to get caught on and if you are new to BB's, WATCH your corners, especially when there are no bales up inside of the chute. You can easily pop a bale outside of the catch arms and end up with a really UGLY mess - as happens to me at least once a season when you are pushing limits!!! Need more information feel free to contact me?

Yes what everyone said. We just fabricated our own out of some pipe and flat bar. Slide the pipe up into the baler and put the flat bar between the two and all you need then is a hitch pin hole.Take a look at the locking mechanism on the gate also. Two of ours have just a single lock on the back and they work fine, but the other has a double lock on the back and we have to wrap a bungee cord around the actuator handle to keep it from popping open, along with a hitch pin clip. Just thought I would add my little bit.

Kelly C; Give me a call on these. the one s on sale are they pro Quality or Ez-trail. This makes a little difference in the hitch setup. I ran three of these for over 10 seasons and learned the tricks. I just got done setting another fellow up and he loves his otherwise you will hate them like everybody else tells you. Give me a ring on this one and IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Rick 319-257-6764

I believe these are Pro Quality brand baskets.
What can you tell me about these?

If I get a couple of them I will for sure call you about the set up.

Kelly C; These are narrower wheel base and have a dual latch the lever activates and the front dolly tire is a larger diameter. I just prefered the other brand due to wider wheelbase but you will due fine with these if you get them. I have hills.MAKE SURE THE SHORT HITCH IS NOT BENT and will still telescope out when you release it. Also there will be a short post holding the flapper that the bales slide on coming right out of baler see if it is bent back or if they have already been gusseted. If you get them and have several miles to pull you can lift front end up and carry the dolly tire (should be a hole near hitch) it will carry front then and pin it in the raised position. You can go 60 mph if you want then because it just becomes two wheel cart. All of mine were originally over 100 miles away. They are now farther away around 900 now. Let me know. Rick

Oh boy I like that idea. When you concider some of my hay land is 30 mi from my barn. Going fast is a plus.

I'm not sure I'd want to go 2-wheeling with them full! And surely not fast. Seems that would be hard on the hitch.

But pin the hitch up & go fast when they are empty, that works great!

You take off your bale chute that goes up to the wagon all the way to right behind your tensioner. You also take out the drawbar. There is a special hitch that slides into the pole where the drawbar came out and also bolts on the bale chute and frame is a couple places. This hitch allows you to hook the baskets up right under the end of the chute. There is nothing else between the baler and basket because they have such short poles. Just have to watch out when making sharp turns that the bale doesn't miss the chute on the basket and become wedged in there. Cant help you on where to get these but they are a lot handier than flat racks when help is hard to find.

Yup. What he said.

I paid $200 more than I wanted to for my bale basket; but they included the special hitch, so I figure it came out about right.

It would not be that hard to weld one up. Will be using mine on Thursday. :)

An older bale basket like mine has a slide for that little triangle metal flap that guides in the bale. Also a newer style has some square tubing going inside the basket, to guide the bale a little higher & into the middle of the basket. Mine does not, the bale just gets inside & needs to push itself around a bit more.

Old or new work, but newer is probably a bit better, or worth a few more $$$$.

Cool. Will see. If they go for about a grand each. They are mine!!! If more I guess I can get a couple more flat racks.
