HI all, Is there any way to tell the age of these Rakes? I'm going to look at one, a 256 with dolley wheels & Hyd lift. Also what should I Pay for one in good condition? Thanks Jeff From WI.

When you get it home, get 10 grease zerks, a drill and tap. Drill and tap a hole in the top of the bearings (where the bars mount on the wheels), screw in the zerks and grease the thing until grease oozes out of the interface between bar and wheel. You won't be sorry. These things use sealed bearings, but sealed is a relative word. Rain can get in them and ruin your day if it corrodes the bearing. Arm drops off wheel right in the middle of the harvest....YUK!

Been there done that.

Mine was $1200 but had manual cranks for raising and lowering bars.

First one built in 1967; still being built today. Condition is more important than age. One as you describe would fetch $1500 if in good order here.

Check all the bearings for tightness. Don't forget the rear wheel bearings.

Don't know how to tell age, but they are good rakes, and one like that would bring $1500 or more here.
