Yellow Jacket Disk Mower Warranty

Hello everyone,
First does anyone have an address or email ect for the company that makes Yellow Jacket Disk Mowers? It may be the same as Fort I don't know. Second let me get your opinion on this situation. I may be wrong and if I am just let me know. I bought a new Yellow Jacket disk mower before the start of this hay season. I have cut about 100 acres or less with it. Last week I was cleaning up around the edge of a field and hit a small stump. I was in 2nd gear. The breakway bar failed to break away where it is supposed to and broke at the rear weld instead (It looked like a small hollow cover weld upon inspection.) The mower then swung around behind the tractor like I was pulling it long ways. To make a long story short I got a busted yoke, u joint, broken breakaway bar and the threaded rod at the top of the mower that holds a large tension spring got bent and now the mower won't raise to transport position.
I took the breakaway bar and yoke to the dealer to ask about the warranty. He advised that it would cover defective workmanship. He advised that they would fix it. Upon my return a few days later He gave me a welded breakaway bar and charged me $62.00 for a yoke and U joint. I didn't know about the bent bar until I got it put back together. Did I get screwed here or not. I'm thinking that I did. I just wanted to see what you all thought before I did anything else. Don't be bashful if you think I didn't get hosed just let me know.

That is the Fort/Morra/First Choice stuff Sweet Tractors and Agri-Supply has been selling on the net. The Yellow Jacket Mowers come from Darrell Harp Red Bay,AL 1-800-445-3943.
There was a service bullitan on these kickbacks sent to the dealers but likely you got a mower that had not been updated.

Thanks alot for the info. I appreciate it. I guess you do get what you pay for, but this thing is the biggest piece of junk I have ever seen. What kind of update did they do to the breakaway?

I'm not trying to be an A$$hole but I am not surprised by the response you recieved. Not saying that you didn't get screwed. First you were cutting around the edge of a field. Sounds like work for a rotary mower. Disc mowers are to expensive and not as robust, to use them for cutting things that they were not intended. Brush, pond edges, etc. Second this is an off brand mower, if it had been by a known company like Deere, CNH, Krone or Vermeer I would be surprised. The old saying is you get what you pay for. Not trying to be an A$$, just my thoughts.
