Well I finally got my tire for my NH 56 side delivery rake, put it on and tried out the rake. The rake worked quite well except that the oner before turned to sharp and bent the frame enough that it was a litle difficult to rotate the arms for height adjustment. I then proceeded to bale the damp hay with my Massey Fergussion 12 baler. It worked with out problems, tied the bales well. This hay that was baled (6 bales) was stuff along the drive way that old, will compost it. I just wanted to try out the baler for when I cut the 13 acres, didn't want to find out that it was a dud. The MF 12 (paid 50.00) works way better than the NH 271 that I have 350.00 into it. Goes to show even cheap equipment can still be ok. Now if I just can find a 9 foot haybine. Thanks

That 12 will always be a good machine. They are all around a very nice baler, had ours for 25 or more years.

Hi again, I noticed on the model 12, a slight nocking sound from the plunger crank area. On closer inspection I noticed that the shaft on the crankshaft that goes into the flat bar that turns the sprocket has a little play in it. There is also a flat spot of about 1/16 inch in the shaft where the flat bar contacts it. There is no bearing or sleave to take up the slack or wear. Is this a problem or common ocurance. It seems to make a clunking sound when the plungershaft goes below horizontal (when the feeder forks are pushing hay into the chut. Thanks

We never had this problem, so I wouldn't know the answer. May be worth taking a closer look when you have time to take it apart, maybe bring it to a machine shop. Main thing is keep grease in the plunger pin under the sheild.

My baler has no greese zerks on the plunger bearings, sealed unit. Thanks
