nother Wisconsin valve question

The posts earlier about preventing stuck valves on Wisconsin engines got me thinking. Is there an easy and quick trick to *unstick* a valve when they do get stuck?

I don't want to disassemble the engine, just wondering if I can unscrew the spark plug and squirt oil down there or push the valve head closed with a stick...? Any ideas would be appreciated!

Bkeeper, Marvel Mystery Oil is the answer! When the old girl is running, spin the tiny square headed bolt from the center of the intake manifold. Hold it just to one side and squirt the MMO in. Perform this task before the engine warms up and the little bolt heats up! She'll lug down and blow blue smoke, but the valves won't stick. When you put the engine up in the fall, squirt the MMO into the maifold until the engine stalls out. The valves will perform for you come spring.

Steve from New Holland and Ron, I owe you big time. I went out and tried the allan wrench trick. Valve was really frozen and I was just about to give up, when "clink" it snapped shut. Started her up, ran the oil through and it runs better than ever. In fact, now that I've heard it this way I'm pretty sure that I've been baling with it on 1 cylinder for the 2 years I've owned it (yeah, I probably shouldn't admit that...forget I mentioned it).

Anyway, thanks again for a great tip.

Once you get it unstuck, get it to operating temp, at about 1/2 throttle and Pour a pint of motor oil down the carb as fast as it will take it...!! ( Don't kill it tho )..This lubes those valves and upper cylinders real good..!! Do it often...

Yes Tom, there is. Usually it is the exhaust valve that sticks which is just out of sight when looking in the sparkplug hole. Take an allen wrench and put the 90 degree end down the hole and turn it so the wrench is on top of the valve. You can then tap it with a hammer. Keep turning the engine and tapping it back down. It won't take too long with good petatrating oil the free it up. Steve
