I have a JD 430 baler that has started running some of the hay up the belts in the front of baler. This is only done on the left side (side the twine is cut)mainly between the end and second belt. From the tractor you can see it coming up the belts to the top of baler and there is some hay that wraps around the front rollers. It still bales OK but I am curious why this is done now and not before. I have used this baler for 5 or 6 years with only roller bearings replaced now and then. Any Ideas what would cause this or has anyone experienced this before? Thanks!

Larry,I worked for a Deere dealer when 430's were sold new in service dept. After alot of bales have been through one especially when run in sandy soils the metal starter roll gets the edge of the rectangle bars on roll gets worn so that it's not as aggressive.JD told me to weld a rough bead on leading edge of bar.Since I starting in '87 custom rd. baling when my JD baler starts doing that I hook up the welder.I now run a 467 that I like better than any baler I've run because of the Megawide pickup. It has 20,0000 bales on it with the spiral metal starter roll.Mine started running hay up the belts.I asked JD about welding on it and they didn't know.Out came the welder/problem solved!!!!!
