I just got the mower and will be using it on an IH 424 tractor. The book shows a roller lever gismo to be used with IH tractors for raising and lowering the cutter bar. This gismo is missing and the previous owner remembers it but removed it as he used the mower on a jd and the gismo was in the way. Question; Is this gismo worth trying to find or fabricate as to the overall performance of this mower. Maby some of you IH guys have first hand experience with this. My intended use for this mower is road and ditch banks and would like to be able to raise the bar fairly high. Maby someone has a method that they can suggest. I do not have remote hydraulics and would rather not go that route. Thanks for the info. and help. Happy 4th of July

Is this a trailer mower? we had a model 100 and it was a precursor to the 1100. The lift should be through a standard 8" implement cylinder.

No this is not the trailer mower however according to my manual the 100 was also avaliable as a trailer mower. The one I have is 3 point and the roller lever gismo I speak of was use only on the 3 point version. Was actually trying to find out if this gismo actually worked to any degree of relaibility. Again per the manual you are corrrect in that some applications required the use of a lift cylinder. Thanks forthe info.

BUCK,
i've found that using a porta power pump with a vent plug on a double acting cylinder to manually lift the mower for ditch mowing works excellent, the only problem i found was trying to mount the dumb pump. i finally ended up using a huge hose clamp to hold the pump to my 9n. mine was not a 100hi??? mine was a ih1300 mower but worked better that anyone could expect had several people stopped and ask if i would come mow thier pond banks and bar ditches with it and made a little extra $$$ doing that.
