I recently bought a JD A with an aftermarket three point hitch. I went to hookup a plow today and found that a standard top link is way too short to fit. Anyone else had this problem? If so what is the best solution? Thanks, Nick

Nick'
I had the same problem with my David Brown 995. I bought a top link from a tractor supply company and cut about 3 inches out of the middle of the center part, welded it together, redrilled the hole, and inserted the rod for lengthening and shortening the top link. Has worked fine for years.

Go to TSC or any local farm store and buy an adjustable top link that is long enough to meet your needs. Most have them, and they are ususally inexpensive.

Nick: I don't think there is such a thing as a standard top link. There is a recomended length for each tractor. I've seen a lot of different length top links in my day.
