Heavy duty 7 foot bush hog

I will soon be shopping for a heavy duty bushhog. I have a JD 4020 diesel and I plan on pasture mowing and clearing small brush up to 3 or 4 inches. Surfing the net the BUSH HOG brand 300 series and RHINO have caught my attetnion. Seem to be built well. Any of you use eithr of these mowers? I plan on having a slip clutch also. Price range new and used?

It's not hard to find a wide cutter, and it's not hard to find a HD cutter, but your not going to find a wide cutter that's HD enough to cut 3 and 4" trees!!!!

For a 7' cutter i like the Woods Brush Bull, and they make them in light, medium, and HD models, so check out the HD model and see what you think.

I was going buy the specs on the heavy duty cutters. Some claim up to 4 inches. In reality I would think the biggest I would mow over would be brush up to 2 inches in diameter. Must of my mowing would be pasture maintenance.

If you are going to cut 3-4 inch trees you would be better off with a stump jumper drinen by a rubber tire no chopper will last long cutting brush that heavy all the time niebor cuts brush along rr tracks and power lines for a living in just about what you are saying you want to cut rebuilds them 3-4 times a year

My personal choice is for BH or Sidewinder. With a 4020 you can handle a 15' no problem. I got a mid grade 2615L BH for $8950, new, at a local dealer last year.

If you really want a heavy duty mower look at Schulte. They are well built mower made in Canada. They make them from 6' to 26' feet. There web site is www.schulte.ca

JE, i've been running a 7 foot howse with slip clutch on a 4010 tricycle front cutting pasture's wore a ten foot ford three bladed job out i believe i like the 7 footer that i just bought better. i can run a little faster on good ground and grass. don't understeer as bad less weight back there, also cutter is the same width as tires like that better for getting around tree's and other obstacles

Will a 4020 handle a 10'?
Would a 10' cut out the wheel tracks better?

7 foot is big enough but not to big for where I need to go. A 90-95 horsepower tractor will handle any bush hog includong the big triple wing models. The highway departmeny around here uses 60- 75HP tractors for their big mowers.

Just bought a Bush Hog brand mower (7') like you're talking about. Bought it today for $975 with about a seasons worth of use on it. A definate bargain! Built like an anvil! John
