I have come to the conclusion that if mother nature hears the sound of any type of hay equiptment running this year it will rain with in 30 minutes after you are done raking or bailing. I don't mind it when I put corn in the ground but it get to me in bad way when it rains on my hay. Just got the 269 setup properly today & hit the field to try it out. Just got done tractor in the barn & the skies opened up with the bails still in the field. I hope that for the second cutting we have a dry spell but in all reality I may as well keep dreaming.

Well I don't know about rain gods and such, but there are a few weatherman I like to see meet them. I sat and watched 5 days of dry weather go buy because they said rain everyday. Don't think it rained with 100 miles of me. Then they turn around and give you 3-4 dry days just to have it rain the whole time. You ought to see the looks kids give ya when your yelling "Look out the window dumba$$!" to the TV.

Our weather pattern here has been 1-2 rain, 2-3 dry and rain again. So I cheat. Mow just before the rain (mow till it starts raining), better to get rained on just after cutting, and bale on the 2-3 dry day. Haven't lost any to rain yet. But I might be pushing it this weekend. They have moved the rain up a 1/2 day. Cut Wed/Thurs with plans to bale Sat, rain due in early Sunday. Now their callin for rain late Sat afternoon now.

I look at it as sacrificing grass to the gods of rain. But then, I have a Celtic background so it makes it easier to believe.....

My (ex ) neighbour once said to me "I said to my wife the other day 'I see Roy has started cutting,so there will be 3 weeks of thunderstorms to come!'" Yes he did have a warped sense of humour!
