Neighbor has an 855 New Holland baler that needs new drive sprockets and chains. He priced replacement chains at around $850 through a catalog. Any reccommendations for good quality replacement at a reasonable price? Thanks.

Never seen anyone need a full set of sprockets. Bearing yes, but I dont think I replaced 2 sprockets on 3 NH chain balers and 100,000 rolls.

I'm not sure why his sprockets are so worn, but they definitely need replacing and he thought he better replace the chain at the same time. He purchased this baler used at a consignment sale, so hard telling how it was treated.

Joe,

Check out Shoup Manufacturing at shoupparts.com
They have replacement chains for the New Holland Chain Balers. Replacement for the upper chain without the bars would be $321.00. Maybe with shipping you wouldn't save much more than if you bought at the local dealer.
Good luck.

Shoup is the place that had them for $800 to $900 for the pair of chains. I did a little searching and found a place in PA that a couple left from a truckload purchase for $495 for a pair. My neighbor has placed his order with them. Thanks for your time.

Joe,

I assume that you are talking about the apron chains and not the drive roller chains. I don't know of another source for them. Perhaps a friendly parts man can give you some ideas.
Good luck.

Any good farm supply store will have chains. NH uses standard sizes. It is not expensive. Most also have drive sprokets. I would be very careful of a baler that all the sprokets are wworn out on aas this indicates a lot of ware in many places or VERY poor care. Good luck

TSC has sprockets and chains. Give them a try. Bring your old one with you and match em up.
