When turning hay to help it dry do you turn it to the outside of the field (the opposite way you swath it) or do you turn it to the inside (the same direction that you swathed it)?

I was just wondering how you can run a hay rake in reverse? It sounds like a good idea.

Some of the old ones are set up to do that- New Idea and AC come to mind, maybe the old David Bradleys, too. The AC was PTO driven, and worked better than the others, I think. They have a lever that reverses the gears in the gearbox. It helps fluff up the hay after getting rained on, etc, but is kind of hard on rake teeth. Have a lot of spares on hand!

i always move mine to the outside, it helps keeping the center row from being 4' tall.
