I followed Jerry D's advice and called John Webb at Sickleservice.com. He had the sickle bar I needed for $21. For $36 I could have the bar with all the sections already attached. Freight was the same either way so I opted for the complete bar (except the head). A couple of days later the JD dealer called me back to say the bar that they had located at a dealer in Colorado could be had for ONE HUNDRED NINETY TWO DOLLARS PLUS FREIGHT! And that was just the bar...no knife sections! I politely declined but thanked him for getting back to me.

The sickle bar arrived today (ordered Thursday) and after attaching the head and the last 4 sections I shoved it in the mower and I'm good to go! I recommend the parts and service of John Webb at Webb's Sickle Service.

I have also run across another complete #9 mower and am thinking about buying it just for backup/parts. It's been sitting idle in a barn for several years. I haven't been able to get the seller to give me an asking price yet. I guess I'll have to be the one to start the process. I'll offer him $15 then after he calls me bad names maybe he'll tell me what he really wants for it.
